Methoni Castle

This week’s ‘on location‘ group took place in the grounds of the magnificent castle at Methoni…

where an intrepid group of sketchers battled against the elements (38 degrees plus lots of wind) and the scale and complexity of our surroundings…

After a spot of speed-drawing to warm up – viewpoints were chosen, and everyone settled down to their own drawings…

both in and out of the sun….

stopping only briefly, mid-morning to compare notes, drink some coffee and wish Sabine a Happy Birthday – thank’s for the courabieres, Sabine – Xronia Polla!

A beautiful variety of work was produced today…

on land and on sea….

with everyone successfully capturing their own glimpses of the castle…

each with their own, personal style…

and distinctive way of working…

It was a joy to see the completed artwork assembled at the end of the morning…

….to discuss techniques and pick up tips from each other….

Well done everyone for producing such a great collection of work this week….

and for continuing to push your own personal boundaries….

Lovely work indeed.
