Using an original vintage postcard as our ‘canvas’, we will add drawing, paint and a little collage to create a very unique painting from Greece.
I will guide you through creating the layers on these lovely old cards, using acrylic paint, glue, scraps of Greek text and your own line drawings. If you’re not a confident drawer, please don’t worry, there’s a very simple way around this for non-drawers!
You will learn how to apply imagery and paint to the old postcards to create layers so that the original handwriting, stamps and postage stamps are still visible. We will be using dilute acrylic paint – applying it rather like watercolour. You can create your own imagery on the cards or borrow from my stash of Greek images. It’s a lovely technique which produces an evocative, layered painting which is also a little piece of history.
By the end of the morning you will have completed one or two vintage postcard paintings to take home and frame as a special memento of your holiday in Greece.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some drawing/painting experience. It’s best suited to ages 12+.
