Weekly Collage – Week 6

As we tend to spend so much time in them, Jackie and I decided we could easily continue the theme of ‘cafes’ for a second week! Here’s a link to her collage work.

This painting features one of those lovely blue, round, three-legged metal tables that are found in cafes all over Greece. One of the first things I did when we moved here was to buy one of them! The Greek text in the background is a mixture of printed and hand-written recipes, and the foreground text is taken from a 2011 yearbook.

The second piece, which is A3, combines some posh cafe sketches I did in Kefalonia several years ago, when doing research for the cookbook, combined with found Greek papers and some recent abstract artwork.

The third collage does not strictly fall into the ‘cafe’ theme but is a small floral painting, in the same colour family as the first painting.
