Collage on Canvas – Week Five

Having been ill for the last few weeks, and somewhat without any creative energy, I was particularly pleased with these recent experiments using collage on canvas.

The little 8″square canvasses are collaged with various Greek text on found papers. My most exciting find was a beautifully aged 1920’s paperback – ‘Adam and Eve’, which I picked up at Livadakia tip some months back, when the tip was still open. It was almost a shame to put any paint on the paper. I’ve used it exclusively on this image of two taverna chairs.

The images are hand drawn and then painted with acrylics. I really enjoyed doing them and I’m hoping these little chairs will lead on to bigger things!
