Weekly Collage – Week 6

This week’s theme was ‘Boats’ –  I only managed one this week but will be continuing the boat theme next week as I have lots of other ideas.

I’m enjoying trying out different ways of working with our weekly challege. This week I made use of some existing artwork and monoprints, a map of the Messinian gulf and some found Greek text. I love these strong colours and the layers of paint with bits of the colour below showing through. I was aiming to emulate the feel of old Greek boats, with layer upon layer of colour and the odd flakey bit!

Jackie and I had to ‘meet up’ on Skype this week as she’s in Skiathos at the moment. I’m a Skype novice, so it was very strange, but great to see all the paintings she’s been generating on her Artist’s Retreat there.
