My August Exhibition will feature some new, large-for-me, original mixed-media paintings, which were developed from the series of ‘100 Days of Drawing Greece’ sketchbook drawings begun at the start of the year. They are joined by several new ‘Postcard from Greece’ small originals.
We also have a brand new collection of beautiful canvas reproductions in a variety of sizes and formats – and have included some which will slip easily and safely inside a suitcase for summer visitors! New images in larger sizes will also be on show for those who have wall-space locally. As usual, my current sketchbook collection will be on display and available for browsing at your leisure.
The canvases turned up from our trusty printer just the other day – arriving on a large delivery van which parked up by the side of the church in the sizzling heat of mid-afternoon. Much delight and excitement followed as we quickly unpacked, sorted and inspected our new work. Mick has already begun the heroic task of stretching them by hand onto sturdy wooden stretcher bars – a precise and exacting process which suits his temperament much better than mine!
Work-in-progress photographs of the new paintings at various stages of their evolution can be found on my Facebook Art Page. While you’re there, checkout the Videos section with recent live videos about the current series (I’m a novice at this live video malarky, so do bear with me!). Do ‘Like’ the page while you’re there if you want to be kept up to date with studio goings on. You will also find daily ‘behind-the-scenes-in-the-studio’ photos over on Instagram.
The Opening Night of the Exhibition at The Koroni Dance School is Thursday 10th August from 7pm. Do drop by for a drink and to say hello if you are in the area that evening. This venue worked really well for us last year – it’s homely and cosy – more like someone’s front room than a posh gallery space. It’s great to have a big cool fridge for drinks – plus there are lots of seats for visitors to hang out whilst looking at the art and sketchbooks.
The Exhibition continues daily from Friday 11th through to Sunday 20th August. Opening hours are 10.30am – 1.30pm each morning and 7pm – 11pm each evening. Do drop by at some stage over the ten days if you are in the Koroni area.
Koroni Dance School is right next to Ninette’s gift shop ‘Antiques at the Harbour’ near the school on the seafront in Koroni – conveniently situated between Bogris taverna and Takis’ kafeneon! Do contact me if you need any more info on the venue or dates and times.
