Lampes – Finiki – Tapia Walk

We were blessed with blue skies and sun for last Saturday’s walk up into the hills behind Lampes beach.

Everyone was happy to see the return of the sun, following a longish period of  unsettled weather…

Perfect walking conditions – views over lampes beach, towards Sapienza.

Thistles and wild flowers below Aghios. Yeorgos church – our al fresco lunch stop….

where we had some company from this lady…

There were some nice, flat stretches of track along the way….

and some very English-looking clouds…

Yellow was the floral colour of the day….

with the odd purple thistle appearing here and there for some complementary contrast…..

Views of Methoni castle from Aghios Nektarios church in Tapia…

and from our third church of the day – Aghia Zoni – on our way back down to Lampes beach.

A lovely walk, on a fabulous day. We clocked 13.5 kilometres on the GPS and were walking for 3 hours 36 minutes, with a total stopping time of 2 hours 10 mins. 3.8kph.

Many thanks to Pat who did all the initial research and footwork and very kindly showed me her walk route.
