Blue shutters, white cotton curtains, ceramic pots and bright red geraniums. This colourful scene was painted from a combination of memory & imagination, arising from images of many a Greek village visited over the years.
This acrylic mixed-media-collage painting was created with layers of acrylic paint, decorative papers, wax and ink on watercolour paper. The first layers of paint were embossed with various tools to create a slightly raised texture. Several layers of paint and wax were applied and then distressed, to give a weathered look. Then the collage was applied, using a selection of hand-decorated papers. The line drawing was done near the end of the process, using ink applied with a sharpened stick. Finally, some decorative details were applied using various ‘stamping’ tools found around the home. The finished painting was treated with a couple of coats of clear UV varnish.
