This original little painting combines fragments of Greek text with some of my drawings of a traditional Greek village. The village in question happens to be in the south Peloponnese, where the drawing was originally done on location, looking up towards the castle which crowns the village.
The collage, which was created on 300gsm watercolour paper, was carefully built up with layers of papers and painted with artists quality acrylic paints and inks, then given a final coat of clear protective varnish.
Greek Village Collage measures 12 x 12cm (4.75 x 4.75″) and comes with a white mount measuring 23 x 23 cm
(9 x 9″). The mount fits perfectly inside a standard square frame (such as a 23cm square IKEA RIBBA) making a simple and economical framing solution.
The painting was part of a series of 100 paintings I recently completed on the theme ‘Inspired by Greece’ so could be hung as part of a group of small paintings with others from this series, or displayed on its own.
