This is one of those bougainvillea’s which just seem to grow abundantly and effortlessly out of a small hole in the pavement. It clings to an arched doorway in a whitewashed wall near the harbour, framing a fabulous sea view. It’s high summer and the sea is beautifully blue. The sun casts a gentle shadow of the large plant on the bleached white wall.
Bougainvillea View was painted using acrylic paint and ink on watercolour paper. Layers of paint and wax were applied to give some texture in the walls and the foreground area. The finished painting was given a couple of coats of clear spray UV varnish.
