Summer Seascapes Workshops

‘Summer Seascapes’ is a new morning (or afternoon) workshop which was really popular in July & August. If you’re visiting the area, why not try out this fun technique, which involves painting without a brush (we use a credit card instead!). Its suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some art experience and works for children as well as adults.

Using a card instead of a brush, creates often unexpected results and stops us fretting about the details of a painting and getting too precious about it!

We start with small seascapes and progress to larger sizes during the workshop. Most people produce at least two or three super seascapes during the morning or afternoon session.

Working on watercolour paper, we tend to work in sizes which will fit standard size frames, so the artwork will be easy to frame when students take it home with them.

The beautiful seascapes above were produced by a party of three adults and three children during a morning workshop in August. It’s fascinating to see how completely different everyone’s paintings are, given everyone is using the same paint colours and techniques.

You will learn a few tips to help create depth and energy in your painting as you try out this simple, yet effective technique.

You’ll be working with acrylic paints plus ink sticks… All materials are provided – just bring yourself.

This workshop can be done on an individual basis, or you can bring along a friend or a group of friends/family. The maximum number of students is 5 to 6. Workshops take place in The Art Studio, Charakopio and you can choose either a morning or afternoon slot. The duration is 2.5 hours painting time, plus a little at either end for settling in and viewing the finished artwork. The workshop price is 40 Euros per person for adults – 20 euros per child, which includes all materials, local taxes and tea, coffee and biscuits. Just contact Gill for more info or to book your workshop.
