The very pleasant, Akroyiali Taverna in Aghios Andreas was the base this week for the Thursday’ On Location‘ sketchers….
It proved an excellent venue, as not only was it fabulously shady….
with the luxury of tables, chairs, coffees, drinks and loos…….
there was a wide choice of appealing subject matter in the immediate vicinity.
Having spent longer than usual on the warm-up exercises, viewing artwork from the week…. and drinking coffee…. we finally got down to some serious sketching.
Most of the chairs in the Akroyiali taverna have little nautical or beach scenes painted on them – very sweet…
and of course the chairs themselves make great models for drawing practise…
as do these huge, pollarded eucalyptus trees near the taverna…
and these lovely, rusty old mooring posts.
Even the taverna roof structure made a delightful subject choice….
There were plenty of fishing boats in the harbour, although today nobody chose to paint them (it was a bit hot out there!). This one’s a copy of a detail from one of the taverna chairs.
A very civilised sketching morning all in all – definitely a venue to return to again.
Great work everyone – very well done.

What a lovely drawings!!! I am a bit jalous, being back in a cold and rainy Holland. Love.
Cold and rainy eh? Poor you. Missed you on Thursday Coosje. It was a nice location – with shade and yes there are some lovely drawings to mark the occasion.
Have a good trip and see you when you return.
