“A Postcard from Greece” is a series of original mixed-media paintings created on vintage postcards. The cards, originally written and sent from Greece between the 1950’s-1990’s, form the basis of the story. We can glimpse poignant words written long ago between friends, in the early days of tourism in Athens, the mainland and the islands. Beautiful old drachma postage stamps and wonky date stamps are left visible where possible. Line drawings, fragments of Greek text, acrylic inks, and artistic licence complete the transformation of the postcards into multi-layered, evocative, original artwork – to bring a little Greek light into your home.
Each original Vintage Postcard Painting measures approximately 14 x 10cm ( 5.75 x 4″)
Your artwork will arrive carefully mounted in a lovely white aperture mount. The back of the aperture has been left open so you can see the photographic side of the postcard. The mount supplied is designed to fit a standard size, off the shelf, 24cm x 18cm frame which displays the artwork very well.
Altered postcards make very distinctive individual paintings. They can also be hung as part of a collection in a small group. I often add newly completed postcards here on my website, so keep an eye out for new work to add to your collection.
