This small original painting combines fragments of Greek text with some of my drawings of a traditional Greek harbour. The village in question happens to be in the south Peloponnese, where the drawing was originally done on location, whilst seated in an outdoor cafe, looking towards the small boats moored off the coast.
The collage, which was created on 300gsm watercolour paper, was carefully built up with scraps of text taken from a vintage postcard, combined with my sketchbook drawings and painted with artists quality acrylic paints and inks, then given a final coat of clear protective varnish.
By the Sea measures 12 x 12cm (4.75 x 4.75″) and comes to you unframed, with a white mount measuring 23 x 23 cm (9 x 9″).
The mount fits perfectly inside a standard square frame (such as a 23cm square IKEA RIBBA) making a simple and economical framing solution, should you wish.
The painting was part of a series of 100 paintings I recently completed on the theme ‘Inspired by Greece’ so could be hung as part of a group of small paintings with others from this series, or displayed on its own.
