At The Door is an original small collage-painting which depicts a typical street scene in a Cycladic island. A low roofed, whitewashed house with faded blue door, small windows and a bright red geranium in a blue pot at the door.
It was created as part of a group of 100 paintings entitled ‘Inspired by Greece’ in which I explored various themes and mixed-media techniques. At The Door combines collaging hand-decorated papers with acrylic painting, distressing and stamping. Tiny scraps of Greek text peek through the collage which makes up the lower part of the image.
Painted with artist’s quality acrylic paints, on 300 gsm watercolour paper, the painting measures 12 x 12cm (4.75 x 4.75″) and comes in a white mount measuring 23 x 23 (9 x 9″).
The painting is being sold unframed – the mount supplied fits any standard 23cm square frame. IKEA make a 23cm square RIBBA frame which fits and is a very economical option.
Geranium in a Blue Pot looks quite striking when hung on it’s own, in a simple white frame.
Another option is to hang it with a couple of other paintings from the same series and show them as a small story group.
