On Location – Mytilini Taverna

The Mytilini taverna on lovely Anenomilous beach (long beach), Finikounda was this week’s venue for on location…

As well as being a spacious taverna-cafe-beach-bar-beds & brollies establishment, it’s also right next to Alpha Watersports….

which was pretty busy all morning – providing us with a completely new choice of subject matter…

Our ‘on loco’ venues normally provide much more static subjects, so today was quite challenging for those intrepid sketchers who chose to have a go at capturing the action….

It certainly was lively down on the beach….and there was lots to draw….

This changing hut was quite well used throughout the morning…

A peparatory pencil sketch of some of the action…

This lovely wooden planter sits on the wall of the taverna….

but this lady wasn’t actually with us….one of the group had brought along some fabulous, vintage drawing books, so a couple of the group decided to draw from some of that material….

which explains the appearance of this beautifully drawn Dutch scene!

Here’s today’s group having a look at each others work at the end of the morning…some of us stayed on for a little lunch…

and then enjoyed a well deserved swim and laze on the beach!
