An Introduction to Monoprinting on the Geli Plate
7th – 28th February
- Fridays: 10.00am – 1.30pm
- €60 includes all art materials & coffee/biscuits
Monoprinting is A LOT of Fun! It’s a simple and highly addictive process which offers endless scope for experimentation and creative development. Over the four weeks, I will demonstrate several different ways of working with a gel plate to create colourful, multi-layered images on paper.
Along the way, you will learn about choosing colour combos that work. We will be using stencils and masks and printing on a variety of papers. You will learn how to register your plate and how to make ‘nature prints’ using leaves etc.
We will generate a sizeable collection of beautifully coloured, layered papers – some of which we will work into so they become finished monoprint-paintings in their own right. Spare papers will be used to cover boxes and notebooks or to make greetings cards. Or you can keep them for future collage work.
I recently purchased several Gel Plate monoplates for teaching use so we will be working on those with acrylic paint, plus stencils, stamps and other mark-making tools.
This exciting medium is perfect for complete beginners as well as those with some experience.
The cost of this 4 week, 14 hour course is €60 which covers art materials and coffee/tea/biscuits. Payment is due in full at the start of the first morning. We will start each morning promptly at 10am.
