Harakopio-Chrysokellaria-Yamia Walk

Saturday 14th January 2012

After a slightly delayed start, due to a sudden rain shower at 10am, which saw us sheltering in the car park…..we bravely set off, up into the hills behind Harakopio and Mouseli…

Just before Chrysokellaria we spied the first of several clumps of colourful irisis by he side of the track. On approaching the village, we were generously treated to lots of fresh oranges from a friendly Greek couple with a well-kept veggie garden.

Some untimely showers forced us to take refuge and coffee by the wood-burner in the small kafeneon in Chrysokellaria, before striding on towards Yamia…..and our second kafeneon of the day!

After a restorative stop for our packed lunch and some house wine in the Yamia kafenoen (generously paid for by another patron!), we headed downhill again towards Falanthi.

This little chap seems to be a recent arrival at this little agro-hut outside Falanthi where he shares his space with lots of cats….and some chickens.

  1. It was a great walk Gill and wrapped up for the chilly wind it was very enjoyable. The cafenions and their warm stoves and of course the free wine made it all worth while.
