Drawing & Painting Workshop (Week 3)

The brief for last week’s homework was to do another drawing/painting of either a fruit/veg or draw another key…or something else….

What a glorious collection of fruits, veg, keys…and other things turned up….

Everyone had been asked to try a new page layout and think about the design of the spread and colours used, in addition to the actual drawing & painting….

A stunning homework collection, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Today’s subject was ‘The Picture Plane’….here they are making pencil (and eraser) drawings on a graphite ground, with the aid of a perspex picture plane…

Here are the hands they drew, using the picture plane. Notice the attention to detail around the finger nails and the well-observed hi-lights picked out with the eraser.

And after a brief but sunny coffee-break in the garden, here are their graphite drawings of the objects they had chosen to draw – again, using the picture plane.

Congratulations everyone – you worked very hard today, but the results are well worth it – great drawings!
