Create a Spread

The Tuesday group’s homework this week was to design a double page sketchbook spread depicting organic objects.

This one does that beautifully, with a good choice of subject matter, some great observational drawing and good use of colour and delicate painting.

Lots of movement here with the various directions of the leaves and branches, and good carry through of the colours on both pages. Nicely observed drawing of the leaves and negative spaces between – apologies for shakey photo!

Lovely, delicate drawing and painting of the almond blossom on both pages, coupled with nice painting on the lemons – designed to show off their texture.

An attractive study of several decorative jugs, with good colours across both pages.

A vibrant, colourful spread, showing further study of the same subject matter – the orange horizontal and vertical bands unify the pages and the collaged mini jugs add another dimension.
