Chrysokellaria to Yamia via the Shrine

We were graced with blue skies and sun for our walk on Saturday 24th March. Starting out from Chrysokellaria, we headed steeply uphill….

stopping first at the small church of Ag. Nikolaos to rest, admire the views towards Sapientza, and pick some wild asparagus to munch on…..

This is the view (towards Harakopio) taken from the shrine by the Metamorphosis of Christ church above Chrysokellaria.

View from the shrine, over Chrysokellaria, with Koroni in the distance.

Heading over to Yamia…

Daisy’s everywhere…

A surprise visit to a tiny, restored Byzantine church at Yamia…

The beautifully painted icons and wall fresco were done by Susanne.

Heading for home….

Can anyone help us identify this tree?

Today’s route was 10.2k plus an extra bit for the surprise church visit in Yamia.
