A while back I was asked to create and donate a painting to appear in a fundraising calendar for the Animal Protection Association of Kalamata and a couple of other animal charities in Messinia. I had a bit of fun deciding on an animal and eventually went with one of my favourites – the ever-cheerful goat. The goat drawing was done from a photo taken on a walk in the hills several years ago and the sunbed and umbrella were from another sketchbook. I thought the two worked well together – making a story of a goat on a beach holiday in Greece. The background of this little collage-painting contains text from some vintage holiday postcards sent from Greece way back when. Hence the title – ‘Holiday Goat’ – which now appears, along with the work of eleven other International/local artists in a lovely 2018 fundraising calendar for the animal charities.
You can view all the original paintings/artwork and purchase the 2018 calendar at an exhibition in Koroni between Wednesday 24th – Sunday 28th May at Ninette’s Dance Studio. Opening hours will be the same as Ninette’s shop – mornings and evenings.
You are warmly invited to attend the opening evening on Wednesday 24th from around 7pm at the Dance School. There will be drinks and music. Do come along if you are in the area at the time.
Should you happen to fall in love with one of the pictures and would like to make a purchase…. the originals will be available by auction, to raise further funds for the charity.
Bids will be taken at all three exhibitions as well as by email.
If you do miss the Koroni viewing, a second exhibition will take place in Methoni from 9th – 11th June.
A third and final exhibition will be held in Kalamata, where the original paintings will be finally auctioned off to raise additional funds for the animals.
All proceeds from the 2018 calendar and auction of original art will go to the animal charities shown on the calendar.
